Product Importer · last updated 15 September 2026
The short version
Product Importer works with products, supplier web pages and prices. It does not ask for access to your customers, and it does not store any information about them. When you uninstall it, everything it holds about your shop is deleted.
What the app stores
- Your shop domain and an access token from Shopify, so the app can act on your store when you ask it to.
- Your name, email address and locale, as Shopify supplies them when you log in to the app.
- An email address you choose to receive price digests, if you set one. It can be different from the one above.
- Product information — titles, variants, options, specifications, images, SKUs and prices — for the products you import or put under monitoring.
- Supplier page addresses and the prices read from them, along with a history of what each page said and when.
- A record of what the app did: imports run, prices changed, and failures, so a change can be explained or undone.
What the app does not store
No customer personal information. The app does not request any customer-data access from Shopify and holds no record of your shoppers, their orders, or their details. When Shopify sends a customer data request or a customer redaction request on a shopper's behalf, the honest answer is that there is nothing to return and nothing to erase.
It also does not store payment details. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify.
Who else sees it
Three services process data on the app's behalf, and no others:
- Anthropic — the contents of a supplier's product page are sent to an AI model during an import, to read details out of the page. Your shop's own data is not sent, and neither is any email address.
- Resend — delivers the price digests and failure notices, which means it handles the email address those are sent to.
- Render — hosts the application and its database.
Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising. There are no analytics or tracking services in the app.
How long it is kept
Shopify notifies the app when you uninstall it. Everything the app holds for your shop — settings, products, watches, price history and logs — is deleted, usually within about 48 hours of that notice. Nothing is retained afterwards.
You can also delete individual products, watches and settings from inside the app at any time.
Asking for a copy, or asking us to delete it
Write to privacy@cortola.com from an address associated with the shop, and say which shop you are asking about. You can ask for a copy of what the app holds, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Uninstalling the app achieves the deletion on its own.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be described in the app.
